Euthanasia can be an incredibly hard decision for your family to make, and it can feel difficult to know when the time to say goodbye to your pet has arrived. This is a decision that our team can guide you through, as your pet’s quality of life is an important focus of ours. Our veterinarians will guide your family in helping you decide whether euthanasia or continued medical care is appropriate by performing a quality-of-life exam and having a discussion about your concerns.
At Dogwood, a euthanasia consists of a series of two injections. The first will help them fall into a deep sleep and alleviate any pain or discomfort they are experiencing. After your pet has fallen asleep, the second medication will help them pass away painlessly. We will respect your wishes whether you want to be present with your pet for part of, all of, or none of the procedure.
We have several options for aftercare, including cremation and home burial, which can be discussed in more detail in person. We do provide the option for you to receive your pet’s ashes back.
