History of Dogwood
Our practice was established in 1977 by a large animal veterinarian working out of his home with only one ambulatory vehicle. From that humble beginning, our practice grew to be known today as Dogwood Veterinary Hospital and Laser Center. We have set the standard for quality veterinary care throughout Coweta County and were the first facility to offer 24-hour Emergency Care to our clients. Dogwood Veterinary Hospital & Laser Center was also the first to be accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association and have maintained that accreditation since 1991.
Dogwood Veterinary Hospital advocates the best care and treatment for both preventative health and disease with the same dignity, compassion, and courtesy for our clients pets as we would our own. Our Hospital’s value and principles are fundamental to our purpose of enhancing and prolonging the quality of life and should mirror those of our clients. Dogwood Veterinary Hospital seeks to educate our clients concerning all aspects of their pet’s healthcare including physical and emotional needs. We always strive to show how much we care before we show how much we know. We will provide such service that the human/animal bond is developed, strengthened, promoted and celebrated. It is the philosophy of this practice to maintain at all times good business practices, a sound professionalism in our manner with clients, and the highest standards in veterinary medicine. We provide our clients and patients with the best possible service and care in a professional manner. We operate to deliver services and the best quality care with commitment at a fair price. To provide a professional and growth motivated environment. We encourage our staff to serve the community by participating in civic affairs and by providing excellent veterinary services. Our core values are Excellence, Commitment and Compassion!
AAHA Accredited
Our hospitals are accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA).
AAHA is the only organization that accredits veterinary practices in the United States and Canada. Practices that choose to pursue accreditation are evaluated on stringent quality standards that encompass all aspects of veterinary medicine—from pain management and patient care to team training and medical recordkeeping—and are continuously updated to keep accredited practice teams at the forefront of the profession.
Today, only 12%–15% of veterinary practices in the US and Canada hold the “AAHA-accredited” designation.
